1. Acceptance

By using BDP (the "Platform") — including this website, the CLI tool, and the registry API — you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

BDP is an open-source bioinformatics dependencies platform that provides a registry of biological data sources, versioning and reproducibility tooling, and a CLI for managing data dependencies in research workflows. The source code is available at https://codeberg.org/datadir/bdp.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform to transmit malicious code or conduct attacks against infrastructure
  • Scrape the registry API in a manner that degrades service for other users
  • Misrepresent the origin or integrity of data sources
  • Use the Platform for any purpose that violates applicable law

4. Data and Content

BDP aggregates metadata and references to publicly available bioinformatics data sources. All underlying datasets remain subject to the licenses of their respective providers (UniProt, NCBI, etc.). It is your responsibility to comply with the terms of those upstream sources.

5. Open Source License

The BDP software is open source and distributed under the terms of its license, available at https://codeberg.org/datadir/bdp/src/branch/main/LICENSE. Use of the software is subject to that license in addition to these Terms.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use in production research environments is at your own risk.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the BDP authors and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and applicable member state law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of competent courts in Europe.
